Reading Lists

I love books.  I love buying them.  I love holding them. I love smelling them.  I love lending them.  I love borrowing them.  I love stacking them in precarious piles on my bedside table…and floor.  I love buying them for other people.  I love receiving them as gifts. One day I may even love writing them. (News Flash:  I WROTE ONE – released in May 2018)  But for now, most of all, I love reading them.

I don’t have a “type” or a “niche” or a “favourite”…much like my writing.  I read whatever takes my fancy at any given time.  And I have given myself permission to abandon a book if it’s not holding my interest.

I am becoming a somewhat critical reader.  But a poorly written book (in my highly judgmental and not particularly highly esteemed opinion) is not enough for me to abandon a good story.  Sometimes there are good ideas or good stories hidden in crappy writing.  Sometimes there are ignorant or poorly conceptualized and supported ideas hidden in spectacularly impressive writing.  Sometimes my brain is working overtime when I read and sometimes my brain is on vacation when I read.  So please, Judge Not, when you peruse my list.  I’m an equal opportunity reader.

Amongst these pages you will find out about what I’m reading — and sometimes even what I think about what I’m reading, if I think it’s worth sharing.

I definitely have a few Go To books, mainly in categories to do with writing, self-discovery, and personal development.  But my tastes change like the wind….so don’t hold me to anything.

If you have any suggestions for books or authors who absolutely knocked your socks off or changed your life or thinking in any dramatic way — please share…I am a work in progress…I am open to everything and as thirsty for knowledge now, as when I was a kid.
