After recently sending my youngest child off to university and retiring from 18 years as the Regulatory Manager in a series of medical device companies owned by my serial entrepreneurial husband I finally have time to think about what I want to do when I grow up. For me.
Although I have always loved reading, I had no idea I loved writing despite having always made feeble attempts at journaling and documenting family life over the years. I have done a lot of technical writing over the years and have spent the past 5 years creating content and managing social media in a volunteer capacity for a sport academy for elite athletes….just for fun! I have been suffering from an increasingly pressing urge to write. No idea where it comes from, but I am no longer prepared to ignore it.
I have the ability to take complex technical info and make it palatable and easy to understand. I have a knack for tailoring my writing to a specific audience and for a specific purpose. I can take the intimidation factor out of complex material by writing clearly and in plain English. I am versatile. I like the technical writing because I know I can make tricky stuff accessible to all. But I’m equally excited to write something silly or ridiculous, just to make you smile. Or to share an anecdote or something embarrassing or shocking just so you can go “oh wow, me too!”. Words connect and take down barriers.

I mainly just want to write. I love the power of words. I love the power of a story. I love being able to make people laugh, or think, or cry, or learn something new. I’ll write for me, I’ll write for you. Sorry to be selfish, but what an amazing feeling I get when I can help get your story or your message out of your head and into the world. I love doing it; it helps you; it makes me feel good.
